Filament Hinges and Rotor Sockets

The Warehouse 42 terrain set features bridges which are attached to various parts using what I like to call filament hinges. Essentially what a filament hinge is a way to make a moving hinge and join it together with something anyone with an FDM printer already has sitting around–a piece of 3D printer filament! You just put the two pieces together, insert a piece of printer filament, cut the filament to the length you want, and now you have a hinge that can move.

Another way I made parts that can move is with what I call rotor sockets. Basically, rotor sockets are round OpenLOCK sockets which allow you to clip in with an OpenLOCK clip and spin that part around. They give great flexibility and are featured on the Pallets, Barrels, and Oil Drums from the Warehouse 42 terrain set.
